Cuvee III Red

Category & Origin

Dry Red Wine

Varietal Composition

Mavrodaphne 40%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Agiorgitiko 20%

Vineyard

Mountain vineyards, situated at an altitude of 700-800 m., surrounding the Mega Spileo vineyard. Harvest takes place in late October.

Winemaking

Separate vinification of each variety. The grape must and marc remain in contact until fermentation is complete. The varieties are then mixed and matured in new American oak barrels for 8 months.

Flavour profile

Deep purple colour with blue hues. Complex nose and a rich blend of aromas with notes of syrup from red fruits such as strawberry, brambleberry and other red berries, graphite and hints of chocolate and coconut. These are rounded off by notes of sweet spices and vanilla. Warm and lush in the mouth, balanced by scintillating granular tannins. Long finish with spicy after-taste.

Ageing

Enjoyable both newly bottled and suitable for ageing up to three years.

Pairing

Grilled or stewed red meats, pasta with red sauces, yellow cheeses.
